1. Download and install Google Earth if not already installed.

2. Open Google Earth and navigate to the desired location for your image capture.

3. Click on 'File' > 'Export Image...' or press Ctrl+Shift+E (or Command+Option+E on Mac) in the top menu bar.

4. In the Export Image dialog box, select JPEG as the file format under 'Format'.

5. Set the resolution to 4096x4092 pixels by selecting Custom from the dropdowns and entering these values into their respective fields:

- Resolution: 4096 x 4092

6. Click OK to save your image.

7. Open Adobe Photoshop CS3 or later if you have it installed on your computer; open an existing document OR go through step one above until reaching 'File' > New -> Blank Template '5000x4000 pixels (RGB)' then press Shift+Ctrl+N (or Command + Option + N) to create a new layer called 'Layer 1'.

a' Go back into Google Earth, right-click anywhere within the 3D view window and select 'Measure distance'.

b' Click at one corner of your desired measurement area.

c' Double click inside this line segment created by dragging with left mouse button held down after placing second point (this will reveal options).

d' Change units from feet to meters under 'Units' dropdown menu located above the ruler icons near top edge; mine says 'meters'.

e' Type 10000 into box next to field label reading 'Distance:' below it; press enter key.

8. Select all layers except Layer1 and click on layer 3D satelite imagery at bottom of Layers panel then right-click (or control + left mouse button) -> merge down

9. Go back to Adobe Photoshop CS3 or later, open an existing document OR go through step one above until reaching 'File' > New -> Blank Template '5000x4000 pixels (RGB)' then press Shift+Ctrl+N (or Command + Option + N) to create a new layer called 'Layer 1'.

10. Copy and paste the merged image from Google Earth into this new document in Photoshop by going to Edit > Paste Special > As Layered TIFF...

11. Now you have two layers: one with just your original satellite imagery (layer 3D satelite), another containing everything else including buildings, roads etc., which we'll call 'Layer2'. To combine these two images into a single layer without losing any information from either source:

- Select Layer1.

- Go to Layer > Merge Layers... then check 'Merge Visible' under 'Blend Mode'.

12. Save your final merged image as an .png file using File>Save As..., selecting PNG-24 for the format, and choosing a location where you'd like to save it.

13. Open Adobe InDesign CS3 or later if you have it installed on your computer (optional but recommended). If not already open, launch it now by double-clicking its icon in Applications/Adobe/InDesign CC 2014.localized/Adobe InDesign CC 14.0/Adobe InDesign CC.exe for Windows users; Macintosh users should right-click Adobe InDesign.app -> Show Package Contents... then navigate into Contents/MacOS/, followed by double-clicking 'Adobe InDesign'.

14. Create a new document in InDesign using File > New > Document..., selecting Single Page with Master Pages under 'Presets'. Set the dimensions to 8.5 x 11 inches (or A4 for international users), resolution to 300 PPI, and bleed settings as desired.

15. Place your merged .png image from step 12 into this new document by going to File > Place... then navigating to where you saved it earlier. In the 'Place' dialog box that appears:

- Under 'Version' dropdown menu at top left corner of window select latest version available (it should be CS6/CC2014).

16. Double-click anywhere inside placed image layer in Layers panel located on right side of screen to bring up Layer Options palette; under 'Layer Effects' tab, checkmark both boxes next to 'Drop Shadow' and 'Bevel & Emboss', then click OK.

17. To add text labels:

- Select the Type tool from toolbar at top left corner or press Shift+T on Mac (or Ctrl+B) if not already selected.

18. Click anywhere within bounding box of your image layer in InDesign's layout window to place an insertion point where you want your first line of text.

19. Type your desired label text, including any special characters like underscores or apostrophes enclosed in single quotes as needed ('This is a sample caption').

20. Repeat steps 18-19 for each subsequent piece of information that needs labeling within the same image area.

21. Save your final output as an .indd file using File > Save As..., choosing Adobe InDesign CS6 (or later) document (.indd) under 'Save as type' dropdown menu at top right corner of dialog box, and selecting a location where you'd like to save it.

That's it! You now have a 3D section cut from Google Earth satellite imagery with post-processing done in Photoshop, ready for inclusion into your next presentation or publication.
